Fresh 48 is a documentary style session that is held within the first 48 hours of your new baby’s life. An alternative to birth photography for some, it is a way to capture the new and precious moments that we often forget. It will take place at the place of birth whether it be a birth center, hospital, or even home. The time you spend in the hospital are all about bonding with your new baby and welcoming him or her to the wide world that exists outside the womb.  This is precious time that will not exist in this manner ever again.  Once you get home there will be visitors, housework, shopping, laundry and all the details and distractions of day to day life.  Providing Lifestyle photography with the use of natural lighting I am able to capture precious, organic images of the parent’s initial experiences bonding with their new baby.  The photos are an un-posed sequence of real life moments as they occur.  This session will capture many of the baby’s first experiences outside of the womb including first feedings and diaper changes.  They can also include the first time the baby meets siblings or grandparents.  Capturing all the details… the tiny hat, the room, hospital blanket, wrinkles, flaky skin, tiny feet, hands, hospital bracelets – all of it. As you and your family ooh and awe over your little bundle of joy that is now a part of your family, I  will slip in for one hour to capture more than the details… the light, airy glow that is filling your room… that will quickly become a blur of excitement once you bring your newborn home.   It’s important to note that a Fresh 48 Session is not meant to take the place of a newborn session. While possibly only days apart, your newborn baby will barely even look the same by the time you have your in-home newborn portraits captured (typically held within 7-14 days of life).
